Euro 5 is a set of emissions limits that’s been imposed by the European Parliament and Council. This limit was created to push manufacturers to innovate their units to have a lower impact on the environment, especially for diesel engines.
While diesel engines emit less carbon monoxide than their petrol counterparts, these engines expel more nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. To combat this, UD Trucks has installed an SCR into its vehicles. The integration of SCR has led to reduced Nitrogen Oxide emission of up to 90 percent while reducing hydrocarbon emissions by 50 to 90 percent, and particulate matter emissions by 30 to 50 percent.
Thanks to Adblue and the SCR structure, UD Trucks became of the first manufacturers to meet Euro 5 emissions, and they’ve set this standard for other brands to follow.
